Devotion 9/19, My help from the Lord
Lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
He knows us and will help us if we will but believe what he has tried so many ways to say: “I love you as my child and I deeply care what happens to you and those you love.” In a world of startling beauty and a universe of dazzling diversity, our hearts are to be drawn back to the One who made it and now sustains it.
In God’s New Testament era, He dwells in the hearts of those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through faith in His blood (Ephesians 1:7, 1Peter 1:18-19). We do not have to “look to the hills” for help from God, for He is in us through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
It is of great comfort to me to know that God is with me always for help, comfort, and care. What has any child of God to fear in this life? NOTHING! We call the God who made us and everything we see, Father!
What assurance and comfort, nothing can happen to us that He does not allow, and if He allows it, then He will give strength and peace to endure it.
Thank You Father God for all Your faithful care and keeping of me, for always loving me, and for redeeming me to Yourself through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. You, and You alone are where my help comes from and I praise You this day Father, Amen!
How my heart leaps, how my soul sings, I know where my help comes from! It comes from Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer!
