Devotion 9/23, Seek a humble heart

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
James 3:13

I found this in my study on this verse and not sure I can say it any better. “The character of a loving and humble lifestyle shows who is truly wise. It is so easy for people to act arrogantly yet in the Lord’s eyes they are worse than silly; they are woefully ignorant. Wisdom is not about flaunting knowledge but about living a godly life. Which more closely resembles you to in your walk with Jesus — wisdom expressed through a humble and loving lifestyle or smart aleck with feelings of superiority and arrogance?”
The most humble people I’ve known thus far in my life say little, but I know where they stand by their actions. They live a humble life. Humility has definitely never been one of my strengths. I seek to get better all the time.
In God’s eyes when pride, arrogance, selfishness, envy, and strife are present, this signals foolishness and evil in a person’s life. These characteristics have no part of God, they come from satan himself!
True wisdom comes from God, the Author of the Bible, humility and an acknowledgment of our dependence upon Him is necessary in order to obtain it. By a well-ordered “good life” and godly conversation, as God’s people we are to demonstrate the power of the wisdom which He has given us.
I seek God and strive for His help to see a humble heart in me.

Heavenly Father, since pride and arrogance will feed and harden my heart, I ask for you to remove it from my soul, Give me today and every day, the humbleness and gentleness of Christ. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

Lord, give me a humble heart. I seek to please you in all I say and do with the calm your presence gives me, with a humble heart. Purify my my heart, Lord.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
