Devotion 9/24, Shine your light!
You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Ephesians 5:8
Oh the story of God’s grace. “I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.” If we could only fully grasp what we so easily sing then life would be filled with more grace and our churches with more confident servants of God.
Before we accepted Christ as Lord and Savior there was darkness in our hearts. This simply means that we were sinners (and still are) in need of saving. There was no Holy Spirit indwelling us so our actions were controlled by our sinful nature which has it’s roots in satan.
But now that we are children of God through Christ, we are light! The Holy Spirit of God is lighting us up from the inside out, our actions should now be guided by Him and should resemble Christ. “May the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, (and my actions) be pleasing to you oh Lord!
It’s not what we say, it’s what we do in life that reflects our soul and our relationship with our Savior! Be the light today, you may stir the soul of someone you least expect to be moved by the Holy Spirit.
“We” must shine our light everyday, for our brothers and sisters in Christ that are going through personal struggles, and those around us, that the Holy Spirit move us to receive God’s amazing grace in our hours of darkness.
