Devotion 9/26, Words have meaning!

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

The goal in Christian communication is to be truthful, appropriate, encouraging, and building up others based on what the needs of the other person are.
Jesus addresses our talk in Matthew:
Matthew 15:11
What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them. (NIV)
When the unsaved listen to our talk, do they hear edifying words, or is there no difference between our speech and attitude than that of the world?
It is so easy in our world today to fall prey to satan with libelous comments and criticism, while God calls on us to use our energy in building His kingdom by edifying our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Lord, I seek your help in cleansing my heart and soul, that the words I speak are only those that will only lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ and all I may come in contact with today. And may those words bring them closer to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

Lord, I seek your kingdom of heaven. I pray my words and my actions are witness to your teachings, that I lift those up that I may come in contact with today, with grace and love.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
