10/4, God knows my heart

We know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:30–31

God is the ultimate assurance that justice will be done and the wicked will not triumph. God hates injustice, unfairness, brutality and abuse. Anywhere from greed to killing and everything inbetween, people may get away with it in this lifetime, but God will be the ultimate judge. Those who love and serve Jesus’ expect his return with anticipation and joy, those who are evil and vile will find out what a dreadful thing it is to fall into God’s hands.
In verse 29, the author says they have “trampled underfoot the Son of God and treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctifies, and have insulted the Spirit of grace.” The writer has been addressing those in the church who have made a claim to the name of Christ, but never truly knew Him as Lord and Savior. We refer to those as apostates, they once said they had accepted Christ as Savior and maybe even for a time behaved as though they indeed had, but then they renounce Christ and His finished work on the cross.
Judas Iscariot is a prime example of an apostate. Jesus of course knew Judas was not a believer, but the other disciples did not know that he was unsaved. But Jesus knew his heart!
God knows our heart. If we profess our faith in Jesus Christ, do our lives reflect what he teaches through scripture. Do we follow His Word?
We are all God’s people by creation, but we are not all His people by birth. Only those who belong to Him through the blood of His one and only son Jesus Christ are born again and are called His children. To those of us who can call Him “Father”, He says in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” That is a promise from God, and He never ever goes back on His promises! I can only imagine His wrath for those that deny Him. The choice of eternal life with Him requires a commitment from the heart and living a life committed to Him. Anything short, and as today’s scripture reading says, “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Thank You Father God for loving me and for sending Jesus to redeem me to You eternally. I love You so and give You all praise, honor, and glory this day. I seek to honor You in all I say and do kowning Your will “will” be done. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!

A song that’s been around awhile. But I need to start my day with it more often. And I need to have reminders along the way each day to make sure what I am doing and how I am doing it glorifies my Lord! I pray, “help me Lord!.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
