Devotion 10/9, He Lives!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1:3
Jesus, risen from the tomb, now lives to make intercession for us until he can return and bring us to his home. Our life is hidden with him so that no one and nothing, not even satan, can take it from us.
When on that day Christ appears, we will get to share in his never ending glory. The great truth about Jesus’ empty tomb is not just that he is risen, but that he is living! His victory over death wasn’t short lived, it was ultimate and nothing less. How can we not praise God for such grace, every day!
God chose to have great and abundant mercy on us by sending Jesus to shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins giving us a new birth, and by giving us a living hope through raising Christ back to life. The resurrection is the Father’s “Amen” to our Lord’s cry, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). The resurrection is also a pledge to all who die in Christ, that we will be raised as well from among the dead!
What a glorious position and possession we have in Christ. We are joint-heirs with Him before our Holy and Righteous God (Romans 8:17). Oh yes, God has indeed bestowed abundant love, mercy, and grace to us, a truly undeserving people!
We are sinners, but by receiving Christ as our Savior, we can be saved. And that is the only way! Jesus told His disciples in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So Christ is the “only” way to God the Father.
If we receive Jesus Christ, read God’s inspired word, and pray with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to decern His word, we are on a path to eternal life.
Almighty God, I praise you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible and glorious grace which has brought eternal victory out of mortal anguish. Thank you for paying the price to make it so. You are marvelous beyond my words. You are worthy of more praise than all your children’s voices together can sing or shout! I am assured and have hope because he is risen and reigning as Lord. I pray that your Holy Spirit lives in me heart always, that my life may reflect you will for me in this world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
My Lord and Savior, I pray for all those that have not received you in their heart. I pray for a seed to be sown that the Holy Spirit would reveal you to them. I pray for their healing from suffering, their survival through trials and troubled times. I pray they find the comfort, peace and hope that comes only from a personal relationship with You. I pray the name of Jesus over them. Come Lord Jesus into their hearts, come.
