Devotion 10/10, Me on Your mind
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1
God wants His children to keep Him at the center of all things in our lives….even our plans. Furthermore, He expects us to be flexible about our plans for He may need to change them for our own good! When He does this our response should be accepting, not resentful and bitter that we did not get our own way. He created us and always knows what is the very best for us, the question is do we trust Him?
Roman’s 12:1, “Therefore I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.”
If a person wants to truly enjoy Christianity, this verse must be obeyed. It is only when we submit ourselves to God and His plans for us that we are really free and can enjoy the peace, joy, and contentment that only He can give through His indwelling Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” This is our promise from God that He only plans and desires the best for us even though it may not look like the best to us at the time. He sees the entire span of our lives from beginning to end and knows the correct path for us to take.
So isn’t it a waste of time to be anxious about those things over which you have no influence? So why worry so much about tomorrow, and next week, and…? Let’s walk with God today and trust in his faithfulness for us for all of our tomorrows. After all, He has prepared a place for us in His kingdom! How reassuring!
Holy God, give me the strength to seize the moment and live the life today that will please you and bless others. Help my heart feel the urgency of today and act with boldness, kindness, and salvation instead of worrying so much about what may happen tomorrow or next week. Give me the urgency of the moment I see in your son’s ministry when he walked the earth. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
I know I’ve used this before, but it kept going through my head as I read and studied today’s bible verse. Lord, I pray that all I say and do today is to glorify you, to see your plan for me today and to live that plan to it’s fullest. I am humbled and so thankful for all you’ve done for me. Thank you for having me on your mind when you sacrificed your son to save me. Thank you for having me on your mind and the assurance that you have a plan for all of my tomorrows. Amen
