Devotion 10/11, Seek God

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Isaiah 55:6

In this chapter, God is calling Israel back from drifting away and living lives of disobedience to his law. God knows that the only true and lasting satisfaction to be found for them is to follow the pathway to blessing which can only come through forsaking sin and clinging to Him.
The same is true for us as God’s children through Jesus Christ today! Many times in Scripture we are told to “seek God”. God loves us so much and desires to have a close and intimate relationship with us, He did not shed His blood for our sins so we could have a “religion”. He has no desire for us to have a religion. The Pharisees in Jesus’ time were very religious and Jesus made it extremely clear that He was not pleased. He desires a personal relationship with us as believers, to have faith in His Word, to have faith in Him. There is nothing that disappoints Him more than to love us so much but not receive it in return. But that’s also what pleases Him the most, to love Him in return, to live a life of faith in Him. God made it so very clear how much he loves us when He sent His only Son to die for our salvation. How much have we loved Him back each and everyday? Just like a parent He is disappointed when we sin, when we fail Him, but oh the pride and happiness He feels when we are faithful to Him and His Word.
In truth, God is always close to those who genuinely seek after him. The real problem is that we drift away from him, lose interest, and leave his presence. So let’s seek him and receive his grace and his help while we recognize that he alone is the one who truly saves.
You know satan can’t stand it when he loses us to our Lord. Tick him off today. Love the Lord and reflect it in the life you live. Oh the joy in our Lord’s heart when we receive Him into our soul.

Father, I seek you with all my heart. While I seek to know about you through your Word, I long to know you and be known by you as a tender father knows his child and as a child feels complete trust toward his father. Father, not only be my God, but also be real to me in ways that transcend explanation. Help me to sense your nearness and to know your presence. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Lord, I pray for your presence at church with me, my brothers and sisters in Christ, but I pray for your presence in our souls wherever we are at. I pray for your presence in our homes, with our friends, at work and at play. I pray that our hearts are fertile ground for your Holy Spirit to fill us with the joy and love that comes from a personal relationship with you.
Thank you for this voice, these words and ths beautiful song, that it be on my heart every moment today. I know Lord, you love to hear this song as much as I. All praise and glory to you Lord.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
