Devotion 10/13, Trust like David

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1

David makes this psalm of praise and worship so very personal by using the terminology “MY God”! He is not speaking to some being far, far way; he is praising One whom he has an intimate, personal relationship with!
When David wrote this psalm, he was trekking through the dessert in Judah in enforced exile east of Jordan. His position was not very kingly at this time, but his faith in God was rock solid, he knew that God would rescue him from his enemies and put him back at the helm of Israel on earth that He had anointed him for.
Oh, that we would have this much faith and confidence in our wonderful God, He is the same today as He was in David’s time for He changes not (Mal. 3:6). The very same God who created all that exists, lives through His Holy Spirit on the inside of every person who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.
Addiction has been defined as “God-hunger directed to the wrong source of soul satisfaction.” Psalm 63 reminds us this is true. Deep in us is a desire to seek after God because he is not far from us and longs to be known by us (see Acts 17). But often when our soul craving need for God is greatest, he is the last place we turn for satisfaction. Let’s earnestly seek after him and put our trust in Him to satisfy our thirsting souls.

Holy Father, fill my heart with longing for you and my head with understanding that it is your presence I crave. I confess that I have often sought relief for my hunger in things that do not satisfy. I recognize all other sources of satisfaction to be temporary and false. I promise to pursue you and your will through your word and your Holy Spirit till I rest in your presence and grace. In the powerful name of Jesus my Lord, I pray. Amen.

Trust and Obey, His word is true and our rewards will be great.
Lord I pray for those that are lost, that they find you in their heart. I pray when we feel lost, are suffering, that through your Holy Spirit, we stay focused on you to show us your path. For you are with us always, always by our side. I choose to follow you, to trust your plan!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
