Devotion 10/15, Seek our Lord

It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4

God is telling His people in this whole chapter just how serious He takes it when they worship other gods. He has zero tolerance for the false prophets that had risen up among them and were enticing them to turn from Him the only true God. There was no reason for them to not obey His every command and hold fast to Him and Him alone.
When we place our faith in the blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins we become children of God. He stepped in and rescued us from the slavery of sin that we were bound to. He did not have to do this, He loved us so much that He wanted to save us from the path of death and destruction that we were on.
We are His people, we are to keep our gaze fixed on Him and follow and revere Him, we must obey and hold fast to Him if we are to experience any joy and peace in our lives. He is our Creator and knows how to take perfect care of His creation! Our part is to have total trust in Him in all things, and to keep our eyes on Him the Author and Finisher of our faith. (Romans 12:1, Hebrews 12:2). He is to be the very center of our days.
Only God alone has proved himself faithful and loving through the ages. In his might he is to be revered. But rather than seeing reverence as a “church thing,” we are reminded by Moses it is a “life thing.” We are to obey and keep his commandments, we are to serve him and depend upon him in our daily lives.
After all that Christ has done on the cross out of His love for us, surely we can face each day with a purpose in our hearts to live for Him because of our love for Him!

Thank You Father, for sending Jesus to pay my sin debt that I had no way of paying! I thank You for loving me when I am so unlovable and for choosing me to be Your child. I give You praise this day, in Jesus’ name Amen!

Lord, your love is so overwhelming. I sing this song on my heart as my morning prayer. Thank you for your love, grace and mercies. Send your Holy Spirit, to turn my heart, soul and eyes upon you in all I say and do, that I may be pleasing in Your sight.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
