Devotion 10/19, Trust and Obey

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

When things are tough, I find it easy to call on God and lean on his mercy and grace. But I must confess, when I’m reveling in his blessings and things are going well, I am so much like the Israelites and forget to acknowledge that all the blessings I have and all the opportunities I have received come because of his grace. In my joy and success, I need to learn to acknowledge him and not trust on my own wisdom and strength when things appear to be going well!
This entire chapter is just full of wisdom from God and the rewards that we will have in our lives when we listen to and obey Him.
In verse 5 we are told to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. There must be a full commitment to the Lord on our part, not just for salvation but for the direction of our lives here on earth. Then we must understand that we cannot trust in ourselves to know what is best for us. Our own “understandings” are many times wrong. We need God to guide us through this life if we want to have any peace, joy, and contentment. Jeremiah 10:23 states that our lives are not our own and it is not for us to direct our steps. We belong to God, body, soul, and spirit; we are His creation to lead and guide as He wishes.
There must be an acknowledgement on our part of the Lordship of Christ in our hearts. Everything in our lives must be turned over to His control. This may sound scary to some, but when we realize the complete love and care that God has for us, we quickly learn that there is no fear of surrendering control to Him for we TRUST Him to take excellent care of us as His children.

Thank You Father God for leading me through this life. Help me to submit to Your perfect will each day so that I may fulfill Your plan for me and bring You all the honor and praise in the process. I pray for your Holy Soirit to guide me in your ways and your plan for my life, to love and glorify you and your kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Lord, I pray for the strength to always Trust and Obey in You and your word. For when I follow your ways, your glory will shine through me to all all meet. I Jesus’ name I pray and give thanks, Amen

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
