Devotion 10/22, How Great Thou Art

How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
2 Samuel 7:22

David certainly knew how great God is, he knew that there was no other true God than Him. God had displayed His sovereignty to the people of Israel many, many times. In chapter 7 we see God’s covenant (promise) with David. David who came from an obscure family, would one day be the greatest king of Israel! When God is for you, who indeed can be against you (Romans 8:31). David was the least likely person in Israel to ever even be considered to be “kingly”, but you see God looks at the heart of a person, and when He looked at David’s heart He saw what He was looking for to be king of His chosen people. In Acts 13:22 God calls David a “man after His own heart.” David is definite proof that it matters not what people think of you, it matters only what God thinks of you! What’s God see in your heart?
Oh, that we would be like David in our desire to live a life that is pleasing to God. David failed many times in his life but he humbled himself before God and genuinely repented of his sins. Therefore, God used him in a mighty way, He knew that there was a love for Him in David’s heart!
God can do great things through us too when we get out of the way and let Him take control of our lives! When we say, “Yes Lord” to His calling and then obediently go down the paths that He leads. We will touch lives that we don’t even realize by something we say or do today so why not strive to live today for God. After all everything we have is from Him. Rejoice, He is with you!

Holy, Righteous, and Only Living God, I hold you in the highest place in my heart. Forgive me when I do not hold you in the highest place in my life. Empower me with your Holy Spirit to give up all the little things that distract my allegiance to you and interfere with you being the Supreme and Sovereign God in my day to day life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lord by your grace I have been saved. I seek life eternal with you. May all those reading this devotion or listening to this music seek the indwelling of your Holy Spirit, that each of us will have a personal relationship with you and live that our lives reflect the power of You, your endless grace, mercies and love. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
