Devotion 10/23, Our Words and Heart
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
Do our words reflect our love for God? Do they build people up, lift them up or tear them down?
Are our words a source of godly encouragement to people, or are we sharp and critical of them? God has shown us so much mercy, grace, and forgiveness….we are to extend that to individuals in our world as well.
This verse would be an excellent one to repeat to ourselves each day before we even get out of bed and think on it many times throughout our day. Just think how that would affect our walk for Christ and the testimony it would be to the unsaved around us!
David has been speaking of God as the Creator and Savior through the entire chapter, and ends with a parting prayer that his words and meditation may be found pleasing before God.
When we fully realize that God created us, we will understand that we are accountable to Him. We will grasp the fact that we have a responsibility for the words that come out of our mouth, and what our heart meditates on.
How we start our day has such an impact on what we meditate on, what’s on our minds. When we start by thinking of Godly things, a foundation for the day is laid. Words have meaning. How we say what we say is from our heart. So chosing our words carefully, and in an encouraging way can have a positive impact on someone today, maybe even lead them to seek our Lord.
What great love Father God has for us, oh that we would fully comprehend this truth and be mindful of the words we speak and the meditation of our hearts!
God is our Rock and our Salvation, we should strive to live a Godly life daily to reflect our love for Him.
O Holy and Almighty God, I want this day to be a day of worship and honor to you. May my life praise you: not just in thought, not just in words, but also in action. In the name Jesus I pray. Amen.
The law of our Lord is perfect. It will give you a peace and comfort you don’t find anywhere else.
I love acapella music. I hope you enjoy this song and His words, chosen carefully and out of His love for us. A Psalm that is sung.
