Devotion 10/26, Delight in the Lord

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

Careful, this is not an invitation for a genie to pop out of a bottle and start granting us our selfish wishes. This is an invitation to seek a love relationship with God above all other things. In finding Him, we will find our priorities properly aligned and our hearts tuned to know what is really valuable and what is not. Then we will see that what we have in Him is our hearts greatest desire.
When our delights and desires are centered in the Person of Jesus Christ, God is well pleased! He knows that when our focus is on His Son and we are purposing to live a life in obedience to God’s Word the Bible, our wants and wishes will be godly ones and not self-based. God wants our hearts, He wants praise and worship from a true heart that is fixed on Him. Surely after all the love He has given us and the salvation He has provided through Jesus, we can surrender our wills and hearts to Him with great peace and joy for doing so!
God is not promising us material possessions or places of power in this or any other verse in Scripture. He will only give us those things that are edifying and good for us because He always knows what is best for us.

Lord, thank you for loving me, thank You for hearing my prayers and always answering them even when the answer is not my will, I know that Your will is supreme, perfect, and always the right one for me. I pray my words and actions will reflect my thanks for your love, grace and mercies and I give You praise from my heart this day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!

While doing this devotional, this song kept popping up in my mind. It’s short and prayerful.
Lord, I pray that your spirit fall fresh on me each and everyday. Renew my passion to serve and glorify you in all I say and do. Thank you Lord for all your continued blessings and I pledge to do my best each day to to use those blessings to glorify you. Amen

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
