Devotion 10/31, Wisdom and Knowledge

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10

Just like the rest of the bible, Proverbs has definitely stood the test of time. What better advice to share with someone that is trying to build and live a Godly life than the book of Proverbs. Such wisdom!
Paul reminds us that God made us to seek after him and find him (Acts 17). The wisdom of Proverbs keeps leading us back to “knowing God” and having a deep and reverential awe toward him as the source of wisdom. Understanding of priorities, needs, purposes, goals, problems, and issues can only occur when we first recognize who the Lord is and know him in our day to day lives.
Mankind is “shaking his fist” at God because of rebellion in their hearts. They are living self-centered lives and taking their short-lived pleasure in all sorts of sinful ways.
Since the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, we know that the lack of fear for God is the beginning of foolishness! It will always amaze me how some seemingly intelligent people can be absolute fools because they do not believe in the Deity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). They choose to believe for example that we evolved from apes, that if there is a God He is just like us, and that there are in fact many gods and whichever one you choose to follow will end well as long as you are sincere. This is just a sample of some of the lies of satan that are accepted as “intelligent” thinking in our world today and being taught to our children in secular schools and universities.
When we know Christ we are given understanding of God and His Word through the indwelling Holy Spirit of God that we received upon salvation. We know that every single thing in the Bible is absolute truth! There is no need to look to false gods for peace and revelation of things, because we know the only true God, and even more than that, He is our Father through Jesus Christ! As MacDonald puts it, “A true believer in God can see more on his knees than others can see on their tiptoes.”
I pray that I always have the strength and wisdom when a non believer comes up to me and says “You think Jesus Christ is the only way to God and that the Bible is absolute truth!” I’ll say, “Good, then you have not misunderstood me!” This world hated Christ and it will hate His true followers as well. However, this must not stop us from showing love to all and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those that God puts in our pathway, for some will accept Him!

Thank You Father God for opening my eyes to the truth of You and Your Word. Thank You for sending Jesus, Your one and only Son to die for my sins and redeem me to You. I give You all praise and glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, I seek the wisdom and understanding of your word, that I might be a witness for you in all I say and do. Thank you for your continued love, grace and mercies, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Enjoy something a little different today!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
