Devotion 11/9, Be Enlightened

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.
Ephesians 1:18

When we accepted Christ’s blood as atonement for our sin and became born again, we received the indwelling Holy Spirit. We now have a part of the triune God-head living on the inside of us, revealing the truths of God’s Word to us, guiding us towards the life God has called us to, and comforting us when needed.

Paul is praying that the Christians at Ephesus will be sensitive to the revelations of God that they are privy to through the “eyes” of their hearts. This figurative expression teaches us that proper understanding of divine realities is not dependent on us having high IQ’s but rather tender hearts! God’s revelations are given to those who love Him. This opens up possibilities for every believer for it is not required that we have great intellect to communicate with the God of the universe, only a loving heart towards Him….and anyone can have that through Christ.

God has called each and every one of His children to glorious things not only in this life, but in our lives to come with Him in heaven. We do not hope for this in the sense that it may or may not happen, we hope for this in the fact that this aspect of our salvation is in the future and we can look forward to it with great joy and anticipation!

There was nothing we did or could do to become Holy, when God looks at us He sees us through the blood of His Holy Son Jesus Christ and declares us as His Holy people, His chosen ones, His children! We have the very same power that raised Christ from the dead living in us. I will never understand why He chose to love such sinful people as we are, but I am eternally grateful that He does. Almighty God lives in us through His Holy Spirit, He desires to reside in the hearts of those who will accept Jesus.

Oh God, you are my Hope. I trust in you and your promises. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and comfort my doubts and kindle my passion that I may serve you with boldness and share with others your grace. Through my Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.

Everybody talks to God.
Sooner or later, whether out of anger, fear desperation or love, “everybody” talks to God!
Lord, I pray that my words and actions reflect Your grace, love and mercy to all that come in my path. I pray that a seed be planted, that the Holy Spirit might move a soul towards you. And Lord, I pray that Your will be done. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
