Devotion 11/13, Don’t Stop Believing
Romans, chapter 5, 1-5: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
“Hope does not put us to shame.”
Why can’t I stop believing? Because as I persevere, it produces hope and hope doesn’t disappoint.
Even though I can’t make sense of everything, there’s something inside of me that won’t let me stop believing (the Holy Spirit). I know it’s true, even if I can’t always explain it. Because I have a hope that doesn’t disappoint.
Everyone talks to God…eventually! Whether it’s out of fear, lack of knowledge of the inspired Word of God, pride not wanting to be accountable to anyone but one’s self, it doesn’t matter. That day will come.
For those not choosing to live a life following Christ’s teaching, you are missing so much. For my enemies, I pray. For the nonbelievers, I pray. For my brothers and sisters in Christ I pray and give thanks. There is nothing like the faith community, the family of faith.
Rest in the fact that, if you’re a follower of Jesus, there’s an ultimate security that nothing can replace or take away. It’s real. It’s true. It’s worth believing.
Lord, I thank you for your Word, the blood shed for me, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, your neverending grace, love and mercies. You continue give so much. Your grace is so healing. I give thanks and all praise and glory to you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Come just as you are. Have that talk with God, he will take you just as you are. He seeks a personal relationship with you.
Lord, open my eyes to all you have done for me. I seek your guidance in all I say and do and to live a life glorifying and praising You. I give thanks for the blood shed for my soul. I will continue to seek to plant the seed that the Holy Spirit can grow. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
