Devotion 11/19, His Grand Design
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’
Job 37:5-6
God is so very awesome, isn’t He? He created this earth with such intricacy and splendor, He spoke all that we see into existence, every living thing finds its source in God. If you’ve been on a farm and to see the seeds that farmers have planted each spring break through the ground into hundreds of acres of corn and soy beans it is truly amazing! I have seen many calves born, and watched as they stood to their feet just seconds after being born. How anyone can look at nature and say there is no God truly is a fool (Psalm 14:1).
Yes, God does great things beyond our understanding! I do believe this is what trips many people up from accepting His Son Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This world teaches that if you cannot fully understand something, don’t trust it. But God says to trust in Him and then your eyes will be opened to the truth of Him and all that His Word says. People cannot understand the mind of God and all His ways so they reject Him. How sad, for they have rejected the only way to eternal life and chosen eternal death in the process (John 14:6).
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Holy, Righteous, and Eternal God! You alone are truly and fully holy. I cannot but comprehend the distant outskirts of your ways, but I love you. You are so far beyond me on my best days, I can’t quite understand why you would pay such a cost to redeem someone like me. But, Dear God, I thank you and praise you from the bottom of my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Lord, your awesomeness is beyond my comprehension. Your plan from creation to eternal life, and the blood shed for my salvation is a story of love. I give thanks that through your Holy Spirit I am a child of God. That you would choose to pour down your blessings, love, grace and mercy on me are acts of an Almighty Father. I give praise, glory, and honor to You and seek to live my life fully in you today and all of my tomorrows. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
