Devotion 12/8, His Everlasting Love

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1 and 26

Verses 1 & 26 seem so straight forward. Our thanksgiving arises from the nature of God and his glory and goodness. The steadfast reason we give thanks is because God is good and his love is inexhaustible, pure, and neverending.
The psalmist isn’t giving another commandment but is very direct. We are to give thanks to God, not sometimes but always. And it’s always easy to do so when life is going good, but when we are going through lifes trials whether from bad choices or uncontrollable circumstance we are to focus on giving thanks to God. It can be uplifting and good for our mental state when we change our mindset from victim of our circumstance to beneficiary of an opportunity to learn, grow, and appreciate the blessings poured down on us.
His love endures forever. Wow, from our first breath to our last, He loves us. He waits with open arms to love us unconditionally, always. As a parent, you love your children, no matter the circumstance. So too, God loves us whatever our circumstance. And because of His love for us He provides a path for wherever our journey takes us.
Choose to walk with Him, give thanks for His love and companionship on this life’s journey.

Lord, lover of my soul, thank you for sending Jesus as the demonstration of your love. I love you Father. I love you for who you are and what you have done. I love you for what you have promised. I love you for the blessings you shower upon me. I love you for giving me hope. I love you because you first loved me. I love you because you are worthy of all love. But I confess that my love is not as strong as yours, so please, fill me with your love by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, your Son and my Savior, I lift my heart to you. Amen.

Lord, your love has neither a beginning nor and end. I am able to love because you first loved me. I give thanks to you, my Savior and Redeemer as you keep blessing and loving me unconditionally. I ask for your Holy Spirit to fill my heart with thanksgiving for having you in my life. Teach me to love more, to serve others and to serve You in all I say and do. In your name I pray, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
