Devotion 12/22, Mary is Humble

Mary said, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…. The Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name.”
Luke 1:46

Notice how Mary calls God her Savior. This should disprove the idea that Mary was sinless. She would not need a Savior if she was indeed sinless.
Then she extols the great things that the Mighty One has done (vs. 50-55), she tells of the way He has protected and provided for those who reverence Him.
And lastly, she declares that Holy is His Name! God is indeed holy, Mary well knew this and God chose her to bring His one and only Son into this world. God does great things through those who reverence and obey Him. I am sure Mary was quite humbled by the fact that she was chosen to do this wonderful thing for Her Savior. And when God uses us in this life to do His will we should approach it with humbleness as well. We are all sinners saved by grace, serving an awesome Lord and Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, holy is His name!

Majestic Father, Almighty God, you have done wonderful things for me. You have saved me from sin, you have paid the price for my rebellion, and you have given me the promise of heaven and the Holy Spirit to empower me there. You are greater than I can imagine and your glory is without compare, yet you have stooped so low as to reach me and then raised me back up with you by your grace. I can never fully thank you, for you are more wonderful to me than my words can declare or a thousand years of life could repay. In Jesus holy name I give you all glory and praise. Amen.

Today Mary gave birth to baby Jesus. He came to save us from ourselves. He came to have a personal relationship with anyone that accepts Him. He came to serve. He came for you and me. What a love our God must have for us, to leave his throne to dwell with us, to die for us. What a love.
Lord, I give all praise and glory to you that came to save my soul. Your love, grace and mercies never end. You keep loving me as I fail you everyday. Thank you for your forgiveness and I seek to walk in your ways a little better each and everyday. In Jesus’ name I pray. For soon you will be Emmanuel, God with us! Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
