Devotion 1/4, Trust in the Lord, Jesus is Coming Back!

[Jesus said,] “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
John 14:1-3

Jesus is comforting His disciples in our passage today. In the chapter prior to this He has foretold His coming betrayal and death, so it is understandable that the disciples were a little upset.

I love how Jesus starts out by saying, “do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; and also in Me.” There we have the key to having peace, by trusting in God the Father and His Son. When we totally trust in God for our circumstances in life, we can have great peace even in the middle of chaos! There is no need to worry and fret over the ups and downs of our life on this earth. He has everything under control, even though it may not look like it at times to us. We can cling to Him and be assured that all things will work out for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

I simply cannot even fathom what heaven will look like. From what we are told in Scripture it will be AMAZING!

He’s coming back! As much as the world likes to remember Jesus’ first coming during the Christmas season, we need to remind them that his Second Coming will be even greater. We want to be prepared — lives dedicated to his glory and hearts full of expectation at his coming. Are you preparing for His return? Are you living your life in expectation of His return, with Joy in your heart and trust in Jesus Christ?

Loving God, I know Jesus will come again. May I be found faithful and expectant when he returns. Thank you for sending him the first time to live in my world and take away my sin. Thank you even more for his next coming to take me to live in your world and share in your victory over sin. In the name of Jesus my Lord, I pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I know you’re coming back, coming back for me and my brothers and sisters in you! I ask that the holy spirit move my soul in faithfulness and celebration of your coming back. I look forward to joining you with the Father in heaven. Clothe me in spiritual armor that I will be protected through faith in you, your word and the Holy Spirit to defeat satan at every turn in this life. I pray that I may live my life that it would be pleasing to you. May I live my life in celebration of your return. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
