Devotion 1/9, Never Will I Forsake You!

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

There are numerous teachings within Christianity today on money. Some denominations teach that if you follow certain practices in your life God will bless you with abundant wealth. There are others that teach money is evil and a true Christian will not ever have nice things but will live life in poverty. Neither is true! God is the source of money to His children, for everything we have is His and He expects us to be good stewards of the money He entrusts to us (Matthew 25:14-30).
The many warnings we see in Scripture about money speak of the LOVE of it. There is the key! If money becomes our top priority in life and we will do anything to get it, then we have made it our God. God gives each of His children the amount of money He knows they can handle. To some He gives much and to some little, but always He provides for our needs (Matthew 6:33).
I love the last line in our verse today, God will never leave us and never forsake us. Oh, how precious and priceless this is! Many times in my life I have been strengthened and encouraged by the fact that God will NEVER leave me, NEVER abandon me His blood-bought child! Praise His Holy Name!

We have two choices for our lives. Either we can live by faith or by sight. We can trust in God’s abiding presence and power or we can depend upon our own resources. But wealth, like health, status, and reputation are all subject to decay and disappearance. Only one Source is always there for us and we know we can depend upon him, because he has been there for so many who have come before us. Never is forever and this one never I cherish: “Never will I forsake you!”

Holy Father, the Great I Am, thank you for being there tomorrow before I arrive there. Thank you for being there in my past when all others forsook me. Thank you for being there when I was unaware of your presence until I looked back and saw the evidences of your grace. Please give me courage to truly believe your promises, especially this one about always being there. Your promise has made “never” a very important word for me today! Thank you. In the name of your loving Son, Jesus, I pray. Amen.

One thing is at the forefront of my faith, I am Not Alone. God is always with me. So as I travel down life’s path, knowing He is with me lightens the weight of my burdens. This gives me such comfort knowing God thinks so much of me that is with me always, in all circumstances.
Lord, you are so loving, so caring, I give you all thanks and praise. I seek your strength through the Holy Spirit, to be a witness for you in all I say and do. Help me to be the best comforter I can be to those in need. You are with me always, thank you for caring so much for me, a sinner. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
