Devotion 1/17, Make Me a Servant

For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
2 Corinthians 4:5

One day all of creation will acknowledge and praise him. But for the people around us to praise Jesus today, they need to see him alive in “us”. We serve others in Jesus’ name. We are his body — his hands of compassion, his heart of mercy, and his voice of tenderness. So let’s lift up Jesus — not just by telling others about him, but serving others as his presence in the world.
As I’ve said before, Jesus couldn’t have been more blunt than when He said “I did not come to be served, but to serve,” As believers in Jesus Christ, sharing His Word, reading His scripture and praying are so important in our own faith growth. It equips us so we can be our own best Christian selves.
Then when we serve others, we are at our best for Christ. We are not in this place to judge, but to serve and lift our brothers and sisters up. Christian is not an adjective in the church. Christian is a verb, it requires action, action for Christ and not just today, but every day.

God of grace, thank you for the privilege of sharing your love with others. Thank you for saving me FROM my sin. Thank you for saving me FOR service to bless others for Jesus’ sake. In the name of Jesus, my Savior, I pray. Amen.

Lord, at my very best, I struggle to be your humble and meek servant . Strength me through your Word and the Holy Spirit to serve others in your glory. I give thanks for your grace and mercy and hope I shine a light to those that are hurting or in need of you in their lives.
I Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
