Devotion 1/18, I Can Do All Things Thru Christ

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

Paul said he had learned the secret to living above life’s circumstances. That secret was Jesus Christ. Jesus was his assurance that no matter how difficult our problems might be, they were not permanent. No matter how hard life was, Jesus would give him the strength to persevere. Paul is just as sure that Jesus will do this for you and me!
Paul is letting the church at Philippi know that even though he has been through many struggles for standing for Christ, he can do these things because it is Christ who strengthens him.
The very same holds true for every child of God today. When we are living our lives in accordance with His will for us there is nothing that He will call us to do that He will not give us the strength and ability to carry out. It is our part to trust God and step out in faith to do those things that He desires for us to accomplish.

Lord, give me courage and hope when I face my problems. I believe Jesus can deliver me, sustain me, and uphold me through my difficulties today. Please forgive me for those times when I didn’t turn to you and honestly talk to you about my struggles. O LORD, I need the strength, the comfort, and the presence of Christ today. In the name of my Savior Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Father, I come to you for strength of focus. When I struggle, I usually have failed to lean on you and focus on your Word. I seek to be the person you see in me. Thank you for my many blessings and your love and mercy. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
