Devotion 1/25, We are One Body

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up the whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12

One of the most powerful images of the Lord’s church is the body. We are all part of His earthly body. In the same way the body has many limbs and parts, each with it’s own different function, the Lord’s church consists of people with many different gifts and talents to fulfill different roles. Some preach, others sing, encourage, support, guide, play, teach, build and manage the administration, etc. No matter your gift or talent we as members of His church should always be constructive and uplifting.

Lord, thank you for the body of Christ and my church. The stewardship, love and caring is inviting as I walk through the doors of my church. I pray for all my brothers and sisters in Christ, that they may be a part of Your church that teaches the gospel from the pulpit and lifts each other up. You should always be our focus, but especially when we walk into Your house.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all. That says it all. So many times the church will stray into social issues or political views. But the answers are always in the scriptures, always. Our focus should always be on God and His Word. The other “stuff” of this world will always be there, but how we view it and handle it should always come out of love and His Word.
Lord, strengthen my Spirit, that all I say and do is a reflection of my commitment to You and your love, grace and mercies. This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
