Devotion 2/3, Speak Boldly!
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Acts 4:31
Having the Holy Spirit indwelling them was still a fairly new experience for the early church. But there was no denying that God was indeed with them, just as Jesus Himself had told them before His death (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit would equip them to do all that God was calling them to do through His guidance and power. Up until Jesus’ death the Holy Spirit came and went, now it was God’s seal of ownership on them and there to stay in all who placed their faith in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:22).
Prayer changes us. Prayer calls on God to change circumstances. Prayer is powerful. Prayer brings revival. Prayer transforms God’s people and brings about salvation. Prayer makes us bold for the Lord. So why do we find it so hard to find time to pray?
They spoke the Word of God boldly! I love it, we too can speak the Word of God boldly. We have good news for the unsaved and we should act accordingly!
God, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to us. Help me to always be aware that I have all the power I need to be bold for You already inside me. Without You I am nothing, but with You I can accomplish all that You bring before me every day. I give You all praise this day, Amen!
When we are at a loss for words we can trust that that the indwelling Holy Spirit will give us just the right words.
Lord, whether I am discussing you and Your Word with my brothers and sisters in Christ or witnessing among the lost, be with me that I speak only those words that you have provided. Thank you for believing in me to help build Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
