Devotion 2/6, Build Others Up!

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV
The Lord's church needs to build up. Encouraging and inspiring your neighbors is an important part of loving them as yourself. Providing encouragement and inspiration is doubly important because most people you meet are hurting in some way. Use your gifts and talents to support fellow believers, and to strengthen their faith. Use your talents and gifts to witness to non-believers to reveal the power of Jesus Christ and His love for them. Then we are using our God given gifts wisely.
To encourage one another is to give courage where it is needed. The life to which God has called the Christian to be in this world, but not of it, requires moral courage. Encouragement can be given through prayer for one another, through speaking the truth in love (Eph 4:15), and through blessing others with words and deeds. These encouragements are often the difference-maker for someone who is on the edge of falling away. Along with encouragement, building one another up is part of God’s plan to grow us in Christlikeness, holiness, and perfection. This, along with evangelism, is the main goal for participation in the Lord's church.
Lord, help me to fully obey your command that requires me to encourage others, to build them up in You. This I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
If you are struggling or know someone that is, this song can provide the Lord's comfort. He is the answer. Share His Word, pray and trust in Him.
Lord I pray for your strength and comfort for those that are hurting. I pray when they cross my life's path, my words and my meditations are pleasing to You and through the Holy Spirit I can encourage and comfort them. I pray that through your Holy Spirit they will be moved to seek you in thought, prayer and Your Word. This I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
