Devotion 2/9, More Like You

[God] did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God.  Joshua 4:24
The LORD brought the Israelites miraculously through the Jordan River during the flood season because of his loving grace and to fulfill his promises to his people. He was also making an important statement about himself to his people. He always wanted Israel to “reverence” him. In addition, he wanted Israel’s enemies to quake with fear. They did. God won a great victory for himself and his people because of their faith.
The unsaved around us can see that there is something different in us when we face trying times. When we have peace through chaos in life, the world notices. When we proclaim God’s love for us and faithfulness to us when our circumstances are less than desirable, the world notices. And when we continue to serve others, as Christ would, in our difficult times, the world notices. God gets the glory when we do these things that show our complete and total trust in Him in every situation we find ourselves in. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and that all things will work out for our good (Romans 8:28).
Holy Father, I want to always treat you with the respect and reverence you deserve. Please forgive me for the times when I was not as reverent or respectful of you as you deserve.  You are worthy of my life, my love, and my all. I want to bring praise to you now and forever. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Lord, I seek to be more like You and less like me. I ask for your help and strength to see those in need, to hear that cry for help. I seek to be a better version of myself so I can serve others better today and all of my tomorrows. I seek to be more like you, and less like me. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
