Devotion 2/11, Victory or Sin?
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
God is the Creator of light and of all that exists. Every good thing comes from our Creator. The previous verses to this one are talking of temptation to sin, James wants the believers to understand that God never, ever tempts us to sin that is from the prince of darkness, satan. God is the Father of light! Satan is always changing his evil tactics to entice us to sin. God never changes He is always good, perfect and loving. God is ever faithful, satan is the constant betrayer.
So which do you choose to place your trust in? It makes perfect sense to put all of our trust in God through Jesus Christ! He always has our very best interests at heart and loves us more than we could imagine.
Every day we must choose who we follow. We will either follow Christ or the devil. We give the victory of each day to one or the other! A different way to look at our choices, but for me, a slap in the face. My choices are either victory in Christ or death in sin.
Lord help us to live in obedience to the Word of God and give the victory each and every day to God so that He may be properly honored and we may have lives that are full of the peace, joy, and love that only He can give! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Thank you precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for coming to this dark and sinful world to bring the pure and holy light of Your salvation to mankind. I need strength in my resolve to be a better follower of You and Your Word and I ask your help and the Holy Spirit to touch my heart that I may only do Your will. Your will is perfect, Your plan is perfect. Thank you for your grace, mercy and endless love. In Christ I pray, Amen
