Devotion 2/17, Pray!
I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.
Romans 15:30
God’s people and God’s ministries are constantly under attack. Satan does not sit idly by while his kingdom is plundered. But those on the front lines of ministry do not need to fight alone. We can help them. For the leaders and servants of our faith, we need to pray prayers for protection, for power, for discernment and for wisdom. Others you know need similar prayers. More than money, more than pats on the back, more than notoriety or success, God’s servants and God’s work need our prayerful support.
As Paul has done many times throughout the book of Romans, he is appealing to his fellow believers in Christ for their help in praying diligently for him. He was not asking this out of selfishness, he was asking them to pray for him so that he may continue to spread the Gospel that God had called him to preach.
There is tremendous power in prayer! We can move mountains with prayer. God knows our heart, he hears our prayers, and wants us to support our church leaders and servants through prayer to build His kingdom and His church.
Thank You Father God for Your precious Holy Spirit that You have given to all who place their faith in You. Thank You for the power that there is in prayers to You. Help me to always be sensitive to Your Spirit’s leading and to bring You glory all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
God, please bless and protect and empower these servants who are on my heart today… LORD, please bless the ministries, ministers, and missionaries of your Church and please dear God, deliver your children who are under oppression and persecution for the name of Jesus. To you, O God, belongs all power and honor and glory. In the name of our conquering King, our Lamb who was slain, I pray. Amen.
I love this song. I can hear it when I’m doing my daily devotions, I hear it when I pray before bedtime. I pray the Lord guide all those leading and serving His church to be guided by His grace.
