Devotion 2/23, Friends or Aquaintances
Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends"
(John 15:13)
Godly friends enjoy doing and enduring for each other. Godly friendships are self-sacrificing and life-transforming. The intimacy we long for is found in Christ and expressed through godly friendships.
So, do you have "friends" or "acquaintances"?
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we share His Word, we lift each other up, we care and comfort one another. We pray for one another.
But for your acquaintances, do you witness for God's kingdom? The following poem was found years ago and shared with me recently by brother in Christ. It's kind of a slap in the face. I need to step up if I truly care for those acquaintances  that are lost. God put them in my path for a reason!
SAD POEM OF THE LOST
My friend, I stand in judgment now, and feel that you're to blame somehow.
While on this earth I walked with you day by day, and never did you point the way.
You knew the Lord in truth and glory, but never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim. You could have led me safe to Him.
Though we lived together here on earth, you never told me of your second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned, because you failed to mention Him.
You taught me many things, that's true. I called you friend and trusted you.
But now I learned, now it's too late. You could have kept me from this fate.
We walked by day and talked by night, and yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, love and die. And all the while you knew I'd never live on high.
Yes,  I called you friend in life, and trusted you in joy and strife.
And now I stand before eternal hell, because of Heavens glory you did not tell.
Yet in coming to this end, I  see you really weren't my friend.
Say these six verses aloud
Who walks with me wherever I go?     “Jesus”
Who comforts me when I am sad and low?     “Jesus”
Who truly loves me and promises to never leave me alone?     “Jesus”
Who’s the King?     “Jesus”
Who’s the King?     “Jesus”
Who’s the King?     “Jesus”
Praise God, “Hallelujah”!
Again, that got my attention. Share your knowledge of God's kingdom before it's too late for that lost soul, that aquaintance the Lord has placed in your path.
Lord, you sustain me through Your love, blessings and mercies. You comfort me with Your Word and I give You all praise, glory and thanks. I ask today, with the power of the Holy Spirit, that I open my eyes when with my acquaintances, that I recognize the lost and am a Christ-like witness in what I say and do. I pray that through the Holy Spirit, my witness might save that lost soul thats looking for just a bit of hope, some direction, some love. This I ask in Jesus' name, my Savior, my Lord.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
