Devotion 3/6, An Instrument of Your Peace
Today’s message is alittle different. While doing my devotions, I came across this prayer again. It’s so simple yet so powerful. St. Francis gave up position and wealth when he heard God call him. He then went on to lead a very humble life, sharing the gospel and serving others.
St. Francis of Assisi: Make me an instrument of your peace:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
POWERFUL! I have yet to live one full day fully committed to Christ. Who am I to criticize anyone!
Lord I seek to be better today than yesterday. I pray that your Holy Spirit fills my soul that I serve You with humility and kindness. Thy will be done, Lord. Thy will be done. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen
Lord make us instruments of your peace. If we truly are your children, we need to see people as You see them, not as we judge them. I pray we can be a light of hope for the lost to know Your kingdom and You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
