Devotion 3/19, Open the Eyes of my Heart Lord
For by [Jesus] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. Colossians 1:16
It is only in Jesus where the fullness of God resides, Jesus is the center of everything. Everything is in motion because of Jesus. The apostle Paul says to the Ateniense in the book of Acts 17 says that He is the One who gives life and breath and everything else, in him we live and move and have our being. All things are submitted to Him, to His command, to His voice. Jesus was sleeping in the boat, when the raging sea made the disciples so afraid to die and they woke Him up, the storm stopped at the voice of Jesus. (Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41; Luke8:22-25)
When Jairus daughter was very sick, he went to seek Jesus to heal her, at the moment Jesus arrives at his home, his daughter was already dead, and Jesus said to her: Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”) and the girl came back to life. (Mark 5:21-43)
In another occasion with two demons possessed man, that felt so tormented because Jesus was near them, they begged Him saying: “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” And it happened like they asked when Jesus just said to them: “Go” (Matthew 8:28-34)
Jesus has the power and authority over everything, and we have that power available to us at the mention of His name Jesus. At the mention of His name, demons flees, sick people are healed, for He gave His authority to the church. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:18-19) Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! There is none like Jesus!
Holy and Almighty God, thank you for revealing yourself in Jesus. Thank you for triumphing over all powers and every created thing and being. Thank you for giving me the confidence that I belong to you; no outside force nor any power in creation can have what belongs to you. In your name, O God, the Creator and King of all, I pray. Amen.
