Devotion 3/26, Restore My Soul
Restore us, O God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
Psalm 80:7
A terrible distance had come between Israel and God. Not only was He angry with their continued disobedience, even with their rote and selfish prayers. They were not serving or praising Him as they were suppose to, their hearts were self-centered, not God-centered.
This still happens today with God’s children who make a practice of living in disobedience and indifference towards God. God desires our hearts to be fixed on Him, and He has every right to expect this as He is our Creator! It is all too easy as human beings to get so caught up in the day-in, day-out affairs of life that we leave God on the shelf, so to speak. We neglect time spent with Him in prayer and Scripture reading, we have left our first love.
The good news is, God is always there and ready to restore us to Himself when we come before Him in humbleness and repentance! He loves us so much that He sent Jesus, His one and only Son to this earth to redeem us to Himself, He will not now, or ever, abandon the work of His hands (Psalm 138:8).
While not every Christian has lost his or her sense of wonder and while not every one of us has an old withered heart, we all need God’s presence to shine upon us, renew us, revive us and save us!
Father God, thank You for Your unconditional love for me. Thank You for sending Jesus to redeem me to Yourself so that I can spend eternity with You. Please help me to live my life on earth in Your service and for Your glory. I seek to give You praise and honor this day in all I say and do. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
