Devotion 3/30, The Power of Word

My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
Psalm 71:8
There is simply nothing better that we as God’s children can do each day than to declare the wonders and splendor of God. To have not just praises coming out of our mouths, but to have praises bubbling up in our hearts and to have those hearts constantly centered on Him. Seeking and thanking Him in even the smallest occurrences of our day to day lives.
Yes, there are many things that we speak about in a day. But God calls us to use our speech wisely. There are numerous verses that instruct us on how we are to talk, but one of my very favorite verses on our speech however is what Jesus says in:
Matthew 15:11 (NLT)
“It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
Statistics say that the average person speaks 7,000 words a day, some much more than that! God has given us speech to use for His glory, Lord help us to think carefully about the words we say before they come out of our mouths, as they can never be unsaid!
Father God, thank You for giving me a voice to praise and honor You. Help me to use and choose my words wisely, to bring honor and glory to You with them each day. I ask this my Abba Father, in Jesus’ name Amen!
Lord, there is power in Your name. When I speak today, may I speak of You, your grace, blessings and mercies. Believe for it!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
