Devotion 4/3, Our Refuge and Strength
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
Psalm 46:1-2
This Psalm celebrates the praises of Immanuel (God with us). The people of Judah were vividly aware of God’s presence in their lives at this point, they had faith in Him for protection and provision. Lord help us to understand this great truth, our safety and protection comes from God ALONE! Not from government, wealth, power, or people, but only our Lord God. What a blessing!
Our challenge is trusting that amid our lives, those emotional earthquakes and tidal waves, God does not abandon us or leave us to face our trials alone. God is not only our protector, but he is also our constant helper. He is there even when our world seems to be crashing around us. He will deliver us from death or provide life to us through death and deliver us into the presence of Jesus. He will be our fortress from evil or strengthen us to overcome evil. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” So, let’s refuse to melt in fear but trust in him!
Thank You Father God for Your wonderful peace in troubled times. Thank You for Your precious Word that provides me with encouragement to live this life for You. Help me to obey your Word as I go through this day for Your glory my Abba, Amen!
God is our refuge and strength. He is with us, always!
