Devotion 4/7, Jesus in Me
…while we wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:13-14
While we are waiting, we are to live as the redeemed people that we are. Christ died not only to save us for eternity but to give us lives here on earth that are pure and holy before Him through the shed blood of Christ and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. When the unsaved look at us they are to see a glimpse of our Savior through our words, attitudes, and actions (2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 5:1-2). We are reflections of Christ in this world, the question is, are we accurate reflections or inaccurate reflections? Are we eager to do good? When people observe us they will think of Jesus what they think of us! I don’t know about you, but this makes me even more committed to seeking Him in all that I say and do. When I stand before Him I want to know that I did my best to follow Him and that my heart was purposed to seeking and living His perfect will for me.
Holy Father, I find myself waiting for Jesus. Because he is coming for me, I know my life’s direction has meaning and purpose, even on those days that are long, hard, discouraging, and seemingly fruitless. Fire my heart to wait longingly and with anticipation for Jesus’ glorious appearing, and stir my desires to want what is only good and holy. I want to see you! But, dear Lord, I also long to be like you! In the glorious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but does my life reflect His grace and love in all I say and do, in my attitude in how I handle every situation? Do people see Jesus in me?
