Devotion 4/20, There’s no turning back!

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6
We should not be taken in by false teachings of men, however convincing they may sound. We are to stick to Christ and His teachings, going forward in our Christian walk.
Satan is crafty and will use whatever he can to try and lure us away from the true, good, solid, foundational teaching of God’s Word, yes, God’s Word, that by which all our decisions and actions will measured against.
Paul speaks of being “rooted” in Christ. When we accepted Jesus as Savior, we found our roots in Him. It is as if the Lord Jesus is the soil and we draw our nourishment from Him. The more we draw on His nourishment the deeper our roots grow in Him so that when opposing winds blow (teachings that are not Scriptural), we will not be moved (Matthew 13:3-23).
Just as Paul told the Colossians, we need to follow Christ as Lord, just as we did when they first became Christians. That is our need! Our lives need to be rooted and nurtured in Christ Jesus as Lord, full of thankfulness for God’s incredible gift of grace in his Son. And we must realize Jesus is more than any additive-laden, updated, or new religious updated fad could ever be!
Thank You Jesus for saving me from myself, for rescuing me and making me a child of God by Your finished work on the cross. All that I am and have is from You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. I love You so and give You thanks this day, Amen!
Heavenly Father, make my walk with Jesus fresh each day. Strengthen my appreciation that his lordship in my life will help me face the difficult circumstances along the way and greet the exciting new opportunities each day with joy, strength, hope, and power. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
