Devotion 4/30, Thy Kingdom Come!
The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
Psalm 103:6
The whole chapter of the 103rd Psalm, David is extolling the many wonderful attributes of God and how He has cared for all the needs of the Jewish people time and time again.
Here in the 6th verse, he is addressing the matter of justice for the oppressed. The Jewish people certainly were an oppressed people, but they were God’s chosen people so God brought them justice over and over again, as told in the Old Testament.
Today, all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are God’s people. When Christ came it changed everything! Now, no matter what race you are, when you trust in the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins you are God’s child and one of His chosen ones! He works righteousness and justice for His blood bought children. We can live our lives on this earth with faith and confidence in God that He will work all things out for our good (Romans 8:28, Psalm 138:8).
So let’s renew the prayer Jesus taught us: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!” Let’s demonstrate God’s will being done in our families, friendships, churches, communities, and cultures! As Kingdom people, don’t you think we are called to model the ethics and values of God’s will in a world so desperate for them? What we say and how we say it, what we do and how we do it are the reflection of our spiritual personality that can lead one lost soul to His kingdom today. His kingdom come.
Thank You Father God, my Deliverer and Defender, for loving me and rescuing me from myself. Thank You for sending Jesus to bleed and die for my sins so that I can spend eternity with You! I will give You all praise, honor, and glory this day, Amen!
I know I’ve used this song before, but is there anything better? This the “Lord’s” prayer. The Lord’s Prayer, it says it all!
