Devotion 5/2, Only Through Jesus

I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. John 10:9
This metaphor suggests three truths. First, Jesus is the door to salvation: “Whoever enters through me will be saved.” There is no salvation outside of Jesus. He is the way to God, the door of salvation. No one can reach God by their works or even by their religiosity. Christ alone is the door!
Second, Jesus is the door to freedom: “They will come in and go out. . . .” There are many doorways and roadways in life that lead to captivity and slavery. They are wide and spacious, but they lead to danger and misery. Jesus, however, is the door to freedom.
Third, Jesus is the door to provision: “They will . . . find pasture.” Christ provides everything we need in order to flourish in abundance. He came so that we “may have life, and have it to the full”!
Lord and Savior, thank you for the full, abundant life you give. All other pathways in life lead to slavery and death. Only you lead and guide us faithfully. We praise your name! Amen.
No matter the bondage we face, addiction, bad habits, bitter attitudes, etc., He will break those veins of bondage, He will make a way for us. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and give thanks that He shed His blood for you and me. Oh, such love and grace that He accepts us with all our failures right we are are, just as we are, as a child of God. Thank you Lord, you are the Gatekeeper to eternal life. Only through you can we truly have Life, know the Truth, and have a path designed for each person to find our Way.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
