Devotion 5/22, Jesus is Coming Back!
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9
This is an excellent verse to show to people when they ask, “Why has Jesus not returned yet?”
God always keeps His Word, for He is perfect and cannot lie (Titus 1:2). God’s timetable and ours however are quite different. If you look back at the Old Testament it doesn’t take long to see that every promise He made was kept, but many times it took hundreds of years to come to fruition. He said He would flood the earth, and He did. He said He would rescue the children of Israel from Egypt and He did. He said that He would send the promised Messiah, and He did. And there are many, many more recorded promises fulfilled. God can be trusted to do exactly what He says He will do every time, without question!
God will indeed send Jesus to take His church at just the right time, and only He knows when that will be.
It may be today, are you ready? Unless you have placed your faith in the blood of Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, you will be left behind to all the horrors of what will take place on this earth, and an eternity in hell thereafter.
God is being merciful in His waiting to send Jesus to earth to claim His church. Just think of the thousands of souls that would not have come to Christ if He had come 10 or even 5 years ago. People are getting saved every day in our world, and every day that Christ lingers, more are coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. FAITH!!!
Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins, thank You for Your faithfulness to Your Word and that You always do just as You say You will. Help me to always live my life in obedience to You and to bring honor and glory to Your name all the days of my life. I give You all glory, honor and praise this day, Amen!
Jesus is coming back!
