Devotion 5/23, His Amazing Love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.   1 John 4:10
That little word love can mean many different things. Love is a noun, and love is a verb. We fall in love, and we love being in love. We love people and animals, fishing, hunting, sports and ice cream, and certain types of weather! Love songs are one of the most popular types of music. So when we consider that love is the fruit of the Spirit, what exactly are we talking about?
John writes, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” True love is sacrificial action. It seeks to bless others. It seeks the best interests of others. The more we value God’s saving love for us, the more the Spirit moves us to share that love with others in both our words and our deeds.
Father God, even as you have shown your love to us through the death of your Son, help us by your Spirit to truly love You and our neighbors. Give us the strength through the Holy Spirit, to share the Gospel and to turn from a “me or I” mentality to a God focused, God first life, a life that reflects your love for us. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
His amazing Love!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
