Devotion 5/24, Produce His Fruit

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
Luke 3:8
Many people confuse repentance of sins with being sorry for our sin. Being sorry means we feel bad about a sinful action that we have done, repenting of our sin means that we are not only sorry, but acknowledging we have sinned and actively turning from sin, dedicating ourselves to live in obedience to God. Clearly without the help of the Holy Spirit we cannot live lives that are pleasing and in obedience to God. But with His guidance, we can sidestep the landmines of sin that would destroy our peace and testimony each day. We can turn from the temptations that satan throws in our path, and choose God’s way which will produce godly fruit in our lives, over satans way which brings disaster and distress!
When we are living lives that are in repentance we will produce much godly fruit. People will be able to look at our lives and see that we are in constant communication with God and that He is loved and glorified by us-that we depend totally on Him, and purpose to be a good reflection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all we say and do. Yes, we still mess up, but we do as 1John 1:9 says and confess it to God, then move on with a thankful heart and a renewed purpose to live solely for Him!
Thank You my wonderful Lord Jesus for taking all my sin on Yourself at the cross of Calvary. Thank You for loving me as no other and for sparing me from an eternity in hell. I give You all honor, glory, and praise this day, Amen!
Lord, help me to keep my eyes above the waves and through the storms and keep my focus on you, that I might share with others your compassion, carrying, and love that they may come to know you and accept you as their personal Savior. In your name I pray, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
