Devotion 5/27, Nothing but the Blood!
Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
Only Jesus Christ was capable of paying our sin debt to God. There is only one payment for sin that God will accept, and that is the pure, innocent blood of His only Son (Ephesians 1:7, Revelation 5:9-10, Romans 5:9).
This world teaches that there are many ways to God and eternity in heaven. God says that there is one way, and that is through placing our faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:22 (NLT)
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true of everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Christ’s blood is sufficient to pay for the sins of the entire world. This verse is many times taken out of context and used to say that everyone is saved automatically, often referred to as “universal salvation”. This is false teaching and does not fall in line with the whole of Scripture. The Word of God teaches that people are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, His blood is sufficient for all but only efficient for those who place their trust in Him. The gospel is offered to all people, not just some, but any and every one, no exclusions! What people do with the gift of salvation that God offers through Jesus is up to them. They can accept His gift and put their trust in Christ with an eternity in heaven, or reject His gift and spend eternity in hell. Those are the only two choices offered to mankind by God.
Father God, I choose life by choosing You! I can never thank You enough for loving me and sending Jesus to pay for my sins with His own blood on the cross at Calvary. My desire is to live solely for You all the days that You give me and to be a good representative of You to all those in my world, Amen!
So, what will you do with the gift that God has offered to you? Accept it and look forward to eternity in heaven when you die, or throw it back in His Holy face and by doing so condemn yourself to a lost eternity in hell?
God says in Deuteronomy 30:15-20 “I set before you life and death, choose life!”
