Devotion 6/17, Conquer evil by doing good
Psalm 109:1-2
O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
In the first 20 verses of this psalm, David begs God to pay back his accusers in a variety of ways. He actually goes into great detail on just how he would like to see them pay for their cruel lies against him. David asks God to place many curses upon these wicked individuals, and apparently God is remaining silent.
Well, we can so relate to this, can’t we? I would say just about everyone has had lies told about them at some point in their lives. It is not a pleasant thing, to say the least! But we, as children of God, should not only expect this to happen from time to time, we should prepare in advance to withstand the lies and not let it stop us from continuing on for God. Satan will do everything he can to discourage those who are active in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, in fact, this is his entire purpose, to try and discredit all who claim the name of Christ.
Romans 12:21 (NLT)
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Father God, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for always taking care of my enemies and for Your justice. Help me to show love to all and to be a good example to everyone in my life. I give You all praise this day, Amen!
Trust in our Savior.
