Devotion 6/22, Come and see what God has done!

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  Psalm 34:11
There is simply nothing better you can do as a parent than to point your children to Christ in all things and to teach them to put Him first in all they say and do, by example in your own life.
David is doing just that in our verse for today, in verses 12-15 he goes on to tell them just what constitutes true fear of the Lord.
1. Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. In other words keep your speech truth filled. Lying only leads to destruction and turmoil!
2. Turn from evil and do good. Live a life that is separated from the ways of this world. Don’t partake in the evil things that go on, instead go about doing good and serving Christ.
3. Seek peace and pursue it. Have a peace filled life, a peace filled attitude, and a peaceful presence about you. Romans 12:18 is an excellent verse on this, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
What better goal for a father or mother could there be? Even if you have no children of your own, or if your “own” children are grown, God gives you his children at your congregation so you can teach them to love, honor, and reverence their one and only heavenly Father. Jesus called us to make disciples who make disciples who make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:1-2). That means we know that part of our life’s mission is to see Jesus formed in those we love (Luke 6:40; Galatians 4:9; Colossians 1:28-29).
Loving Father, help me to be involved in teaching your children, and as I teach, please bless my efforts to teach them to love, honor, and reverence you, the one true and holy God. In Jesus’ name, I ask for this help and grace. Amen.
Is there a better message?

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
