Devotion 7/18, Come Holy Spirit, Come!
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17
We who know Christ have the Holy Spirit of God living in us (Ephesians 1:13). God sent the Holy Spirit to us as a comforter (John 14:16) and guide in this life (John16:13). The Old Testament saints did not have this, but we in the New Testament era have the power of God indwelling us (Acts 1:8)!
The second chapter of Acts is when God sent His Holy Spirit to live in those who trusted in Christ. God performed many miracles through the early Christians as a proof that God was indeed in them and that Jesus Christ was exactly who He claimed to be, the living Son of God (John 15:26).
It will always amaze me that the same power of God that raised Christ from the dead is living in us, you and me! What a privilege it is to always have God with us. The Spirit enables us to do all that God has called us to do in this life. We never have to be concerned that we do not have what it takes to follow God, for we have His Spirit to lead and guide us and to give us the power to testify for Him.
The question is, do we tap into that awesome Holy Spirit that is in us, or do we ignore Him? Lord help us to never grieve His Spirit by going our own selfish way in life! God has great plans for His children and much for us to do while we are on this earth to further His kingdom.
Father God, thank You for sending Jesus to this earth to shed His blood for my sin. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and empower us to live this life for Your glory. Help me to live out the truth that You call me to be for as long as You give me breath. Thank you for Your love, grace and mercy on my soul. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
I pray, Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me. Amen.
