Devotion 7/29, Preach the Gospel

Some of the Jews were persuaded [by the preaching of the Gospel] and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.  Acts 17:4
Christ’s disciples had recently received the indwelling Holy Spirit of God and He was moving in a mighty way! People were seeing that Jesus was exactly who He claimed to be, the Son of God, their Messiah. In response to their conversion they were joining the other believers in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I love how some Jews, Greeks, and leading women in the present society were saved. Jesus is an equal opportunity Savior! He offers His love and eternal life to all who will place their faith in Him, He does not show favoritism (Acts 10:34 and Romans 2:11).
That very same God is still moving and working in the hearts and lives of all people far and wide today. I pray that we never think that one race or class of people is beyond the saving knowledge of Christ. Jesus died for ALL who will accept Him as Lord and Savior (2 Corinthians 5:15), and God is using His children in all these diverse cultures to lead individuals to the cross of Christ.
I would bet that many of the prominent women who were saved were also influencing their children and prominent husbands to accept Christ as well! Whole families were being won to Christ, and still are to this day, from the testimony of the godly women in their lives.
Please take time today to let a godly woman in your congregation know how important she is to the Lord’s work and to you.
Precious Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and coming to this world to shed Your blood for the forgiveness of my sins. Lord I pray that You enable me to live a life that is pleasing to You and that my friends and family would see You all over my life. I give You all praise, honor, and glory this day, Amen!
Almighty God, thank you for godly women of faith. Please bless them and their ministries and make their efforts powerfully effective and a gracious blessing to others as they bring you glory. Fill us all with your Holy Spirit, that we may lead hearts and souls to You and your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
