Devotion 8/1, Share your faith with the children
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
Psalm 71:18
David knew the importance of the next generation knowing the power and mighty acts of God. He had understood the greatness of God in his youth, and he still does in his old age. What a testimony of a life that is lived with a heartfelt purpose to live for God. Oh David made plenty of mistakes, some of them quite despicable, but he humbled himself before God, was repentant in his heart for those sins and was forgiven by God.
The very fact that we are reading Psalms is proof that God granted David his request. God preserved David’s accounts of God’s faithfulness and numerous generations have read of God’s mighty acts!
It is important for us as God’s children, young or old, to tell our friends and family about the wonderful things that God has done for us in our lives. It is such a privilege to be able to give an account of God’s faithfulness in our lives to the next generations! This will help them when they go through difficult times to know that others have gone through trials and God did not forsake them but carried them through with a Father’s love and care. I want my grandchildren to pass on their faith to their children and friends. So, “Lord, let me never, never, die until the next generations knoweth Thee!”
Father God, thank You for loving me and for sending Jesus to pay for my sins on the cross at Calvary. Thank You for my life and for Your continuous care and keeping of me even when I am so unlovable at times. Help me continue to remember to share with our grandchildren the wonderful things You have done for me Father, so that they can recall this as they go through their lives. I give You all praise, honor, and glory this day, Amen!
As the Body of Christ we need to do something for the generation that comes after us, for them to be a generation that is unshakable, that will stand in their ground, walking by faith and not by sight, with their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, they need to know the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Turn their eyes upon Jesus, Lord! This I pray with my whole heart, Amen.
