Devotion 8/6, The Living Water

On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
John 7:37-38
As Jesus offers salvation and spiritual satisfaction in these verses, it is important to note that He says first that anyone can come to Him. No certain pedigree is required. Then He says anyone who is thirsty, He is speaking of a spiritual thirst of course, and a spiritual thirst comes when an individual realizes that they are a sinner in need of saving. Unless they are conscious of a spiritual lack in their lives they will never want to come to the Lord for that need to be met. Once they realize this “thirst” however, they can come to Him and drink of Him. To “drink” Him in is to trust Him as Lord and Savior. It means to take Him into our lives as we would take a glass of water into our bodies. I love how Jesus made salvation so simple to understand that even a small child can place their faith in Christ!
When the Holy Spirit is present in a person they cannot keep Him to themselves, the Spirit flows from the heart and life of that person to all those around!
I am so thankful for the indwelling Holy Spirit of God. The Spirit is always with us so that we are never separated from God. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us and He never will!
Precious Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and for shedding Your blood on the cross for my sins. Help me to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit that is within me, to follow You all the days of my life, and to be a channel of blessing to all those I am around. All glory to You my Redeemer, my Prince of Peace, Amen!
The living water, it restores my soul. Thank you precious Lord for your grace, mercy and love. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
